Each year, an emerging, unrepresented artist is selected to create a site-specific exhibition at the show. The chosen LaunchPad Artist is featured on the website and through a marketing email to introduce him or her to collectors and media prior to the show.
Born and raised in the mountains of North Carolina, Christopher graduated high school in 1987. He married right out of school and today says he is blessed with a wonderful daughter and two granddaughters.
He worked in the textile industry and was a screen printing specialist until 2000. He parlayed his management skills and talent for detail into retail management for nearly a decade. The challenges in the retail market led him to change his path and, for the past seven years, he has found work at a local nightclub.
Williams started painting three years ago as a way of relieving stress and anxiety and has found it exhilarating and challenging. He says: “I love to think that when people look at my paintings, they see that each of them has a life of its own—and inspires them the way that they inspire me.”
Being affiliated with the Desert AIDS Project Art Gallery Program since its inception last year has not only validated his creativity, but also given his art a place where it is seen and collected.
